A lawyer at the Court of Holland, in 1729, 1st Pensionary (alderman) of Haarlem, in 1730-1745, admitted to the States of Holland in 1730, and the States-General of the United Provinces, in 1738; and 2nd Registrar of the States, in 1744; Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Minister to the King of France Louis XV, in 1746, then to the Congress of Breda, the Holland Grand Pensionary Advisor, from 9 September 1746 to 3 May 1749, retired with the title of Treasurer-General of Holland.
