Deputy Member of the National Congress in 1830, then Senator in 1842, he married Marie de Pélichy in 1828.
In response to the wish of his father-in-law, Baron Jean de Pélichy, for his name to live on thanks to the descendents of his daughter, a Royal Decree of 22 February 1872, allowed him and his descendants to add “de Pélichy” to his birth name.
